Activating Spaces: Neighborhood Design Charrette

  • Pima Community College Downtown Campus, Amethyst Room (CC 180) 1255 North Stone Avenue Tucson, AZ, 85709 United States (map)

Join us for this important design charrette/strategy workshop tailored specifically for our Thrive in the 05 Neighborhoods focusing on:

  • Creating safe-by-design sustainable public spaces and corridors that:

    • Support connectivity, mobility and access to neighborhood resources, services and amenities;

    • Promote active healthy lifestyles;

    • Activate public spaces and corridors to place “eyes in the streets” and reduce crime; and

    • Incorporate green infrastructure such as water harvesting.

  • Beautification efforts, instilling character, identity and sense of place

We invite local neighbors and non-profit partners to engage in this hands-on opportunity.

During this focused design charrette/strategy workshop, specific revitalization strategies and action activities will be identified aiming at creating the conditions necessary for public and private reinvestment needed to improve the character, identity and sense of place, activate, revitalize and support thriving, sustainable, complete neighborhoods and transform the Oracle Choice Area. The resulting strategies and action activities will be submitted to the City of Tucson Housing & Community Development for consideration as reinvestment activities and Transformation Plan strategies supported by Choice Neighborhood Planning Grant funds.

Please invite area residents and come prepared to share your Big Idea.
